The basketball court, constructed by the troops of the 14 Gemunu Watch(GW) of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) at J / St. Henry’s College, Ilavalai was commissioned by the Commander SFHQ-J) Major General Nanadana Udawatta on Friday (06) at the invitation of Rev. Fr. J.A. Jesuthasan, Principal, St. Henry’s College.
Mr. Ranjith Herman Perera residing in Malaysia sponsored for the construction with a donation of Rs. 382,000/=.
An exhibition match played between the teams of Angles’ International School Jaffna and Jaffna Hindu College followed the inaugural opening.
General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Brigadier S. Thirunaukarisu, Rev. Fr. S. Eugene of St. Fatima Church, Pandatharippu, Principal, Ilavalai Ladies’ College, Ms S. Jayanayagi and parents were also present in the ceremony.
