Infantry Operations Course Produces 148 More for Jungle Warfare

 

Sri Lanka Army’s Training School at Maduruoya, the leading Army institute for Jungle and Counter Insurgency Warfare Training, successfully completed one more Special Infantry Operations (SIO) Course (No. 51) and awarded certificates, trophies and shields in a colourful passing-out ceremony last week.

A total of 08 officers and 140 other ranks, having successfully completed the course received their merit awards in the ceremony, attended by Brigadier L.M. Mudalige as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe, Commandant, Army Training School, Maduruoya.

A Guard of Honour saluted the Chief Guest on arrival at the school premises after he was welcomed by the Commandant. The Chief Guest was afterwards invited to give away trophies, shields and merit awards. Chief Instructor, instructors and the Commandant threw their full weight behind the successful completion of the Course.

Private K.G.A.N.P Piyarathne of 1 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) was adjudged the Best Shooter while Lieutenant J.A.C.T.K Jayakody of 16 Gajaba Regiment (GR) of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) received the trophy as the Best All-Rounder of the Course. The award for the Best Section was presented to the 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (8 SLSR) of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
