Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army Monday (9) morning was greeted to a Guard of Honour when he paid a courtesy call on Air Marshal K.A Gunatilleke, Commander of the Air Force at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Headquarters at Colombo.
At the entrance to the SLAF Headquarters, the visiting new Commander of the Army received a warm welcome from Air Commodore Prasanna Payo, Commanding Officer, Sri Lanka Air Force Station, Colombo.
Afterwards, a Guard of Honour presented arms to Lieutenant General De Silva and saluted him in accordance with military traditions. The cordial meeting between Lieutenant General De Silva and Air Marshal Gunatilleke that ensued, discussed a couple of matters of relevance to both services and how the future would hold for both organizations.
Exchange of symbolic mementos between both Commanders signified cordial relations and understanding that prevail between Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force. Lieutenant General De Silva was also invited to place his signature in the VIP book at the SLAF Commander’s Office as another formality.
Later on, the visiting Army Chief was introduced to the most senior SLAF officers by the Air Force Commander as the last leg of the agenda, related to the visit of the Commander of the Army.
