World's End Rescuer &;amp; His Team Felicitated at Tourism Bureau Ceremony

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau on Friday (27) in a special ceremony at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Colombo, felicitated Sergeant A. M. Sudesh Lalinda of 3 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment who risked his own life to rescue a Dutch foreigner who fell off the famous World’s End in Hortons Plains, off Ohiya while photographing his wife. Mr Rohantha Athukorala, Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau after inviting Sergeant Lalinda, his team members, including an Airman who assisted the rescue operation on February 21, presented special tokens of appreciation to them and praised them for their bravery and the reputation the act, brought to the country.

Chairman and the staff spoke high of their exemplary bravery and profusely thanked them for their commitment and life-risking adventure.

Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, 3 SLSR Commanding Officer, Sergeant Lalinda’s wife and children and senior officials were present at the occasion.

On Wednesday (25), the Commander of the Army in a fitting ceremony, promoted the rescuer Corporal Lalinda to the rank of Sergeant and gave away appreciation certificates to him and his team who were associated with the rescue.
