Troops, belonging to Brigades and Battalions of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) made elaborate arrangements on account of the recent, ‘Thaipongal’ day (15) by way of conduct of Poojas. Clean-up of temple premises and offer of sweet-meats to devotees, etc.
9 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 233 Brigade, 231 Brigade troops, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 232 Brigade, 241 Brigade troops, 3 SLNG troops of the 233 Brigade, 8 GW troops, 12 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops and 18 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 231 Brigade, organized separate Thaipongal Poojas at respective Siththivinayagar Kovil and Mariamman Kovil in Vakaneri, Mamangama Kovil in Manmunai North, Priyawadduvan Kovil at Iralakkulam, Pulleyar Kovil in Akkaraipattu, Naga Kovil at Panichchankerny, Sivam Kovil at Kokkadicholai, Palayadi Kovil in Wellawali, Murugan Kovil in Ariyamankerny and Nachchiamman Kovil in Ichchalanpattu respectively during the morning hours on Thaipongal day.
In addition, prior to the day of celebration, troops ensured all the surroundings of Kovil premises were thoroughly cleaned up and kept neat and tidy.
6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops at Thiriyaya, 11 Sri Lanka Artillery troops at Manmunai, 12 GR troops in Batticaloa separately conducted Shramadana campaigns in their respective areas and made Kaali and Pulleyar Kovil temples in Valachchena neat and tidy before prayers on Thaipongal day.
Meanwhile, 6 VIR troops of the 221 Brigade supported the cleaning and renovation of an abandoned house at Seruwila and also assisted the cleaning campaign that was going on at Kuilin Plus pre-school in Panichchiyadi.
