Troops of the 681 Brigade of the 68 Division Headquarters provided Kaiweli resident, Ms Arumugam Aseththu, a mother suffering from cancer with a large stock of nutritious food items and cash for treatment of her terminal disease, following a request, made by the Gramaseva official of the area.
23 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving the area sponsored the donation of Rs 3500/= plus the dry ration stock to the ailing mother on the directions of the 682 Brigade Commander and the General Officer Commanding, 68 Division.
Meanwhile, 683 Brigade troops of the 68 Division with the aim of improving health conditions of newly resettled civilians in their respective areas, organized a mobile medical clinic at Udayarkattu Maha Vidyalayam on Saturday (13).
A team of nineteen medical specialists, nurses and pharmacists, headed by Dr Mrs Anula Wijesundara of the ‘Success’ organization, Colombo attended the mobile medical clinic which drew more than 567 patients for treatment.
The team provided the patients with necessary drugs and referred them to peripheral hospitals for further treatment, depending of the nature of the disease.
683 Brigade Commander and several officers were present at the commencement of the mobile clinic.
