On the direction of Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J), troops of 55 Division organized a distribution of school bags and stationeries for 80 needy school students at St. Mary’s Pre-School, Kadeikadu on Sunday (17).
The distribution items, worth of Rs. 60000.00 was coordinated by Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ-J and Commanding Officer (CO), 6 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) under the directions of Brigadier S.K Thirunavkarasu, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 55 Division.
Brigadier S.K Thirunavkarasu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Ramesh, Brigade Commanders of 552 and 553 Brigades, Colonel General Staff (GS), 55 Division, Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ-J, CO’s of 6 SLA and 12 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), officers and other ranks participated in the event and gave away those donations.
A large gathering of civilians attended the occasion. Meanwhile, Brigadier S.K Thirunavkarasu exchanged views with civilians on their hardships.
