A group of Buddhist monks, headed by Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha, Maha Nayaka Thero of Asgiriya Chapter and Ven. Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero of Colombo 07 Sri Sambodhi Viharaya chanted Vehi Pirith (chanting for rains) at Galviharaya, Polonnaruwa and conducted the distribution of a stock of relief items and water among drought-hit areas in Polonnaruwa on Wednesday (13).
The arrangement was facilitated by the Commander, Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) at the request of the organizers with the support of 22 Division troops and a large gathering of affected civilians in Polonnaruwa.
