Security Force Headquarters Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), alerted to hardships, being experienced by villagers in drought-hit Muthuvinayagapuram, Kaddiyamalei, Ganeshapuram, Peraru and Kalamuruppu villages in Mullaittivu, has taken steps to deliver water bowsers and stocks of drinking water bottles on a regular basis.
64 Division troops commenced the distribution, beginning Monday (4) and the troops have since then taken those stocks every other day to affected areas, following the close supervision of Major Genral Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT.
Divisional Secretary, Oddusundan has also sought the Army support for delivery of 100 litre plastic water tanks among civilians in worst-affected areas. During discussions between the Divisional Secretary for affected areas and Civil Affairs Officer, 64 Division, the requirement was projected and Army assistance sought.
