Responding to the need of immediate action, troops of the 122 Brigade under the 12 Division of the Security Force Headquarters Central (SFHQ-C) rushed recently to Ihala Kitul Ella, Bandarawela area and doused the bush fire that was fast spreading, due to prevailing dry weather.
A contingent of 25 Army personnel of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), along with water engines, hurried to the scene and commenced work to bring the situation under control with the support of some volunteers in the area.
The fires were totally brought under control by Army fire-fighters within two hours before more damage was caused to the rest of the forest reserve.
