211 Brigade under 22 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) organized a two-day friendship visit for Gampola to newly resettled Avaranthulawa and Nochchimodei villages in Vavuniya on Thursday (31).
Brigadier D.T Gamage, Brigade Commander, 211 Brigade instructed to organize the friendship visit at the request of Mrs Champika Karunadasa, Zonal Director, Gampola Educational Zone.
The group including 35 school students representing Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim ethnic groups, teachers, 13 members of the peace promoting committee in Gampola Educational Zone took part in this tour.
During the first day, they conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clean surrounding of reconstructed houses and other public places in Awaranthulawa.
The following day, the group visited Nochchimodei primary school and Lanka Saba Tamil Mixed School with the intention of promoting harmony and mutual trust between students from three ethnic groups and donated gift parcels among students.
Meanwhile, the group attended two religious programmes at Sri Bodirukkarama temple and Hindu temple at Vauniya.
