The ambulance, belonging to 51 Division Headquarters of Security Force Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J) offered its humanitarian assistance to a woman patient who had been discharged from Jaffna teaching hospital but had no means of getting home back.
Mrs Rasawathi Kalapillai (73) of Elumulli, Ponnalai West, Manippay after her discharge from Jaffna Teaching Hospital where she underwent an operation, had to remain in the hospital premises without being able to return home.
On information that she needed transport home, the 51 Division Headquarters dispatched its ambulance and took her home from the hospital premises.
An Army medical officer and a nurse of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps accompanied her home.
