Army Begins Recruitment of Northern Youths from Mullaittivu


The first initial round for recruitment of Mullaittivu youths to the Army commenced on Thursday (8) at Maritime (Muhudubadapattu) Divisional Secretariat, Mullaittivu for the first time after the humanitarian operations were over in 2009.

Recruitment programme for Army tradesmen in Mullaittivu in the field of engineering, plumbing, welding, motor mechanism, masonry, electricity, etc, will continue as the first phase till June 30, 2014, covering all Divisional Secretariats in Mullaittivu.      

The first phase at Maritime (Muhudubadapattu) Divisional Secretariat which began on Thursday (8), has so far attracted more than fifty applicants and the best takers are to be selected after two more interviews before interviewers move to Oddusuddan, Puthumattalan, Mullaittivu and other areas until June 30, 2014.

Sri Lanka Army with the sole objective of tapping human resources in the North has been instrumental in recruiting Tamil women and youth to the Army in the most recent past. So far a few dozens of Tamil women who have joined the Army are serving respective Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu since they are close to their houses.

However, this is the first time the Army after humanitarian operations began recruiting young men from Mullaittivu area.
