To mark the Deepavali festival troops serving 512 Brigade under Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) decorated and illuminated all the roads in Jaffna Town on Saturday (2).
The programme was organized with an intension of promoting unity and co-existence among the nations in northern area.
Colonel Ajith Pallewela, 512 Brigade Commander as the Chief Guest and senior officers took part in the occasion and lit up the lamps at the auspicious time.
Meanwhile, troops serving 23 Sri Lanka National Guard of 682 Brigade in 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) organized a special ceremony for senior citizens in the area ‘Mawupiya Harasara Pranama’ to coincide with on the Deepavali festival on same day (2).
The programme was conducted according to a concept of Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT and under the guidance of Brigadier T. J. Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division.
More than 150 senior citizens of Puthukudiyiruppu, Vallipunam area participated in the event and they were offered special lunch and gift parcels.
General Officer Commanding, 68 Division as the Chief Guest together with 681 Brigade Commander, senior officers and civil coordination officers attended the occasion.
