2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (2 SLLI) troops serving the 55 Division Headquarters in Jaffna pocketed out their own money to buy school bags, books, shoes, water filters, sports items and other equipment for students at Kaddaikadu Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School to the value of Rs 165,000.
The simple ceremony for distribution of those items among the most needy students took place on Friday (22). Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe attended the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Kaddaikadu Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School has students from low income group families in Vadamarachchi area. Principal, teachers, state officials and parents attended the ceremony.
