Community Oriented Activities to Mark 55 Division Anniversary

 

A series of community oriented projects were carried out by the soldiers serving 55 Division in Jaffna to mark its 16th anniversary recently.

Troops serving 55 Division donated blood to Jaffna Teaching Hospital blood bank for the patients in need of blood for their surgeries. Nearly 250 soldiers joined this one day blood donation camp on 15th December.

In the meantime on 19th December, with the coordination of the 55 Division headquarters, 49 students studying at Kevil Government Tamil Mixed School received school bags, books, shoes and other school items. This was organized jointly by 553 Brigade and 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

A Pirith chanting ceremony, a guard of honour accorded to the General Officer Commanding and all ranks lunch followed the events organized with guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Division Brigadier Ajith Wijesinghe.

A grand musical show held at Division Headquarters premises marked the culmination of the celebrations on 22nd December.
