Security Forces Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in connection with Christmas made elaborate arrangements in the centre of Kilinochchi and commemorated it on Friday (21) evening with a series of humanitarian and entertaining programmes. Presentation of a special Christmas Carol service, musical entertainment by ‘Akni’ band, a fireworks display, award of scholarships each worth Rs. 10,000/= to 200 students and erection of an exceptionally tall Christmas Tree adorned the festivities on the occasion.
Contribution given by newly recruited Tamil women soldiers for the Carol display attracted attention of the people in the area. The inauguration of these Christmas arrangements was attended by Commander, SFHQ-KLN. A large gathering of Catholic priests, state officials and senior Army officers were associated with the events.
These events were organized on the instructions of the Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN.

Meanwhile, SFHQ-KLN on account of the forthcoming Christmas and New Year season organized a Christmas festival at Shivanagar Public grounds on Tuesday (18) with the participation of Catholics in 65 Division area.
With the sponsorship extended by Rev. (Fr.) W.H Perera of Colombo Kapuwatte Diocese and 90 members of the Diocese, SFHQ-KLN was able to distribute dry-ration parcels each worth about Rs.5000/= among more than 200 Catholics who attended the occasion. In addition a stock of school accessories valued about Rs. 7500/= were gifted to school students on the same occasion.
