A total of twenty-five male and female soldiers, including one officer who followed a three-month long Taekwondo course at the Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) received their proficiency certificates during a brief ceremony on Saturday (15), coupled with award of certificates to 30 soldiers who successfully completed an IT course at the 54 Division.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, who initiated the conduct of these self-defence courses and IT training courses attended the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.
Brigadier W D C K Costa, who coordinated the participation of Taekwondo instructors for training purposes in his capacity as the Chairman, Army Taekwondo Committee, assessed the proficiency level of the participants.
The brief ceremony was attended by Brigadier M A M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, Brigadier A A Kodippily, Commander, 542 Brigade and several other officers.
