A large consignment of exercise books, dry rations, night lanterns, ready-made garments, footwear, eye glasses and several other essentials to the value of more than Rs 3.5 lakhs, were distributed among newly resettled people with slender means in Kelebogaswewa, Mahakachchakudiya, Pirappanmaduwa and Kokkeliya villages in the 56 Division Headquarters area.
Distribution of these items on Monday (22) took place at Kelebogaswewa centre, headed by Ven Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhammabhidana Anunayaka Thero of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya of Malwatte Chapter and Ven Etambagaskada Sri Kalyanatissa Nayaka Thero, Deputy Sangha Nayaka of Uthuru Palatha.
Those gift items have been made available by Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Fellowship Foundation, following coordination, done by Brigadier D.A Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding 56 Division and Lieutenant Colonel S.B Tenna, Commanding Officer, Omantha Entry/Exit Point.
The ceremony for distribution of these items among students and civilians took place on Monday (22).
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, 563 Brigade Commander, Vavuniya Senior Superintendent of Police and a large group of civilians attended the distribution ceremony.
