Welioya &;amp; Kebithigollewa Based Troops Perform Community Roles

Troops serving the 622 Brigade Headquarters under Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in the past two weeks pursued a series of community - oriented projects in Welioya and Kebithigollewa Divisional Secretariat areas.

Of them, many drought-stricken civilians praised the Army for their support in supplying drinking water continuously for them for more than 10 days, due to scarcity of water in Gajabapura, Monarawewa, Kalyanipura Stage I and III.

9 (v) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops on the directions given by the SFHQ-W used more than 5 bowsers for this task as the people were suffering without drinking water.

Thousands of saplings of coconut, jak drumsticks and several vegetables were meanwhile, distributed by 622 Brigade troops among more than 106 resettled families in the Janakapura Gramaseva Division early this month with the support of the Mahaweli Authority.

In the meantime, 9 Gajaba Regiment troops under 622 Brigade Headquarters came forward to construct a lavatory in the Sri Dharma Praneetharamaya at Kiriibbanwewa for the use of many students learning at the temple’s Daham School, considering the acute need for this sanitary facility.

Similarly, 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops serving Kebithigollewa Divisional Secretariat at the request of school authorities put up a temporary dormitory building for teachers at Kanugahawewa Primary Vidyalaya since teachers coming on transfer to this school do not find any suitable dwelling place for them.
