A special ‘Vesak Zone’, comprised of exhibition of Vesak lanterns, recital of devotional songs, free distribution of cooked meals (Dansel), Vesak exhibits, depicting previous life stories of the Buddha, drew a mammoth crowd of civilians during May 5-7 in Kilinochchi when the troops of 57 Division Headquarters, together with 571 Brigade Headquarters, organized the Vesak zone.
On the first day of its opening, Major General Crishantha De Silva, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi, Brigadier K.R.P Rowel, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Colonel Nanda Hathurusinghe, Commander, 571 Brigade Headquarters and a large number of Kilinochchi civilians freely moved about in the decorated zone and enjoyed the event.
Many concerned civilians and businessmen in the area assisted the troops in making the arrangements a success.
