Jaffna-based 521 Brigade Headquarters and 523 Brigade Headquarters under 52 Division organized New Year festivals at Nelliady Madhya Maha Vidyala grounds and Chavakachcheri Urban Council grounds on account of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
With the coordination of Karaveddy Divisional Secretariat, Chavakachcheri Traders’ Association and Point Pedro’s SLBC provincial headquarters, the 521 and 523 Brigades included traditional games and other fun-making features in the day’s programme which ran into late night, blended with a mammoth musical entertainments.
Businessmen and several other establishments provided gifts for distribution among the winners in different features and games in both festivals.
Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Lieutenant Colonel D.M.T.B Dissanayake, 521 and 523 Brigade Commanders and a few other senior officers attended the occasions as invited guests.
