56 Division Headquarters on Saturday (17) with the aim of promoting health of the civilians living in Kanagarayankulam, Puliyankulam, Omanthai and Nedunkerni areas conducted a mobile medical clinic following the patronage, provided by Ms Wasanthi Pothupitiya, a social worker in Gampaha.
A team of medical officers from Gampaha Hospital with a large stock of medicine treated over 1300-1400 civilians in the area for minor ailments and provided them with necessary medicine during this mobile medical clinic.
Meanwhile, the same donor, Ms Wasanthi Pothupitiya donated a Buddha statue to be placed at the Kanagarayankulam 56 Division temple premises. Ven Etambagaskada Kalyanatissa Nayaka Thero after receipt of the Buddha statue was conducted to the temple in a procession.
561 Brigade Commander, Brigadier D.A.R Ranawaka respectfully received the statue and placed it at the new shrine, amidst blessings of Maha Sangha on the occasion.
A special Bodhi Pooja and a sermon concluded the day’s event.
