The Army generously assisted the Action and Care Trust, a non-governmental organization for establishment of two separate Happiness Centres, exclusively designed for students at Mulliyaveli Roman Catholic School and Selawatte GTM School.
The primary objective of those centres is to help children overcome past unpleasant traumas of war and memories of destructive fighting incidents before their eyes during military offensives against Tiger terrorists, a few years ago.
Ms Manori Unambuwe of Action and Care Trust who had already set up so many such centres with the support of the Security Forces serving respective areas, expects children in both schools in Mullaitivu would engage themselves in recreational activities off school hours after establishment of those ‘Happiness Centres’ either by the side of those schools or inside school premises themselves.
Major General L. B. R Mark, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu, together with Ms Unambuwe and Ms M. Thurairajah of the same organization took part in the recent opening ceremonies of both ‘Happiness Centres’, equipped with musical instruments, TVs, DVDs, toys, games, etc.
Several more senior officers, principals, teachers and children along with some parents attended the two opening ceremonies.
