The new community hall, constructed by the UNHCR with the coordination of the 563 Brigade Headquarters in 56 Division at Malmaduwa village was recently opened and handed over to the masses on Tuesday (28) during a simple ceremony.
The occasion was attended by UNHCR officials, Civil Affairs Coordinators, civilians and the Commanding Officer of the 25 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops serving the area.
Meanwhile, following an initiative of the 56 Division, 21 selected civilians from Kelebogaswewa village received training under a four-day long workshop organized on animal husbandry and farming. The closing day of the workshop took place on Tuesday (28).
In the meantime, 563 Brigade troops carried out a Shramadana (self-help) programme at Vavuniya General Hospital recently. 40 soldiers and several officers took part in the hospital cleaning project under this arrangement.
