Kovil Offerings Commence After 58 Div Hqrs Relocates its Perimeters


To coincide with the recent Thai Pongal ceremony and also considering the religious needs of the people in the area, the entire ancient Kandaswamy Kovil premises, situated inside the 58 Division Headquarters compound was recently released for veneration and access of the devotees after relocating the perimeters of the Headquarters.

Kurakkal Ven Rasneshwaran, in charge of the Kandaswamy Kovil received the formal custodianship during a simple religious ceremony after the premises were formally handed over to him.

The sacred Kovil, built in 1946 on a proposal made by Mr Wetti Welu, the Grama Seva official at that time, got the services of Ven Muttaiah as the first priest (Kurukkal) on the recommendations of the pioneering architect. The Kovil with a record history of more than 60 years is now open for offerings.

Major General Nandana Udawatta, General Officers Commanding for 57 and 58 Divisions took part in the inaugural offerings and Poojas, conducted by the Kurukkal after the Kovil was released from the 58 Division Headquarters premises.
