A record 2798 school students of 54 schools in the Vavuniya Educational Zone under Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni were rewarded with school books and accessories with the generosity, extended by ‘1972 Old Boys Group’ at Colombo Royal College.
During a recent donation ceremony, held at Maravankulam Bharathithasan Tamil Vidyalaya, Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni gave away those educational accessories at the invitation of Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division who personally intervened to get assistance of old Royalists in this connection.
The stock, worth about Rs 35 lakhs was thus distributed in the presence of Mr Aruna de Silva, Hostel Warden, Mr T. Ganeshan, Chairman, ‘1972 Old Boys Group’, Madu Divisional Secretary F.C Sathyasothi, Additional Educational Directress Ms. S.S Sebastian, Brigadier K.G.D Perera, Commander, 611 Brigade and a large gathering.
Principals, teachers, recipient students and parents attended the distribution ceremony.
