Those recipients with low income were selected from Thenmarachchi area and constructions were carried out by 52 Division troops within three months.

Building materials to the value of about Rs. 225,000/= to each house were provided by the “Sri Lanka Habitat” in appreciation of the Army’s humanitarian assistance to Jaffna people.

The ceremony, held formally to hand those over to the beneficiaries at Thenmarachchi, also gave away stocks of furniture, a bag of dry rations and a collection of domestic items.

Brigadier Anura Suadhasinghe, 52 Division General Officer Commanding attended the occasion as the Chief Guest. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, community leaders and civilians were present on the occasion.  Invited guests planted ten coconut plants inside those new compounds.
