A Tamil philanthropist cum donor, setting an exceptional example to all those interested in economic well-being of their own community recently offered his financial assistance to five civilians and two rehabilitated former LTTE combatants for improvement of their new livelihoods.

The overseas donor, Mr C. Rathnasingham after observing financial constraints, associated with agricultural and vocation of five peasants and two rehabilitated former LTTE combatants in Kalmadu area under 611 Brigade of the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W), offered a sum of Rs. 675,000/= for distribution to those men via Vavuniya People’s Bank on repayment basis. Loans are to be repaid after they succeed in their vocations within a period of one year.

This interest-free loan facility was made available on agreements of understanding sans any surety bonds or guarantors on the recommendations of the Civil Affairs Office of the Brigade Headquarters.

One of them is a budding electrician and the other is a businessman from the same area.

Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Diivision, Brigadier A.K.P Wickremasinghe, Brigadier D.M.D.C.D Gunawardena, Brigadier K.G.D Perera, 611 Brigade Commander, People’s Bank Manager, officials, civilians and loan recipients.
