Indian Army Chief Meets DSCSC Student Officers Before His Return Home

Hours prior to the end of  his hectic five-day official goodwill tour in Sri Lanka, Indian Army Chief, General Vijay Kumar Singh made a visit to the country’s highest seat of learning for defence services tri-service academic institute, the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda, Thursday (9) morning.

At the entrance to the DSCSC, the visiting General and his delegation was warmly welcomed by the DSCSC Commandant Major General N.A Ranasinghe and conducted them to the auditorium. Mrs Singh was received by ladies of the DSCSC Seva Vanitha Unit.

General Singh afterwards addressed the student officers at DSCSC and outlined the most important components, needed in the making of an officer and a gentleman.  Student officers, including foreign officers and their families were also present to listen to the visiting Indian Army Chief. DSCSC Commandant, thanking the visiting Army Chief presented him with a memento as a token of memory.

Minutes after the agenda at DSCSC was over, General Singh and his delegation flew to the Colombo International Airport to board their service flight back home.

His host in Sri Lanka, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and many senior officers of Sri Lanka Army were in attendance to see him off leaving behind memories of their tour in Sri Lanka with a view to promoting bilateral military cooperation and goodwill between two countries.
