Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) on Saturday (15) appreciated and recognized the sports talents of its personnel by holding the annual ‘Colours Night’ on a grand scale at Defence Services School auditorium.

During the glittering ceremony, replete with a string of cultural performances of high standards, the occasion saw 59 Army woman soldiers receive Army Colours and another group of 201 women awarded Regimental Colours.

Major General S.R Manawaduge, Colonel Commandant, SLAWC and Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (West) attended the ‘Colours Night’ as the Chief Guest.

The award for the Best Sportswoman of the year was won by Sergeant R.D.C Gunasekara who accepted the award from the Chief Guest.

The SLAWC, in parallel with its male soldiers in all other Regiments of the Army in the past few years, has shone very well, fetching admirable slots and achievements in the sphere of sports, both at regimental and national levels.

A gathering of senior officers, SLAWC Commanding Officers and invitees witnessed the day’s proceedings.
