14 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 613 Infantry Brigade under the 61 Infantry Division conducted a beach cleaning project along the Dewata area beach in Galle on Tuesday (Jan 28) which remained highly polluted due to heaps of discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and polythene waste.
One Officer and 40 Other Ranks joined the project.
The project was initiated by Lieutenant Colonel P.H.A.I Wijerathna, Commanding Officer under the guidance of Colonel Indika Jayaweera, Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade, Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division and Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces-West.
