An awareness workshop on 'Disaster Management' at the Security Force Headquarters- Wanni) got underway on Thursday (01) on the guidelines given by the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara.
Mr Sugath Dissanayaka, Director Training Awareness at Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Brigadier W M P M Wijesooriya - Assigned Director, DMC, Commander D H K Herath, Navy Liaison Officer attached to DMC delivered lectures on the subject during this session.
The programme enabled Officers and Soldiers to learn about nature of disasters, management and mitigation of disasters, identification of vulnerable areas in Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Manner districts. It also discussed the course of action, needed to be followed in any emergency, etc with proper coordination with other relevant government departments and institutions.
