The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Shavendra Silva undertaking visits to Security Force HQs in a bid to show his gratitude to the troops across the country arrived at the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni on 15 October 2022 where he was received to a warm welcome by Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni.
A drive-past Guard Turnout greeted him at the entrance. While addressing the troops, General Shavendra Silva spoke highly of the commitments of all Officers and Other Ranks who fulfilled numerous national projects and different endeavors, launched by the Chief of Defence Staff during his tenure as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. He also conveyed his gratitude to all the troops who actively contributed to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
Further, he stressed that the professional and responsible discharge of duties by all island-wide troops could minimize unexpected eventualities, increase public confidence and bring solace to the general public.
Exchange of mementos between the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander Security Forces - Wanni followed a group photograph. He also left compliments in the SFHQ-Wanni Visitors' Book.
All GOCs, Commander, FMA (N/C), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks under command to the SFHQ Wanni were present at the occasion.
