Giving pride of place to religious ceremonies and respect to the War Hero monument, the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) commemorated its 14th anniversary with a string of community-oriented projects during November 22-23 on the directions of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W).
To mark the occasion, a special lunch treat was served to the orphaned children, resident at Etambagaskada Viharaya in Vavuniya together with gift parcels on Thursday (22).
The same evening, the Wanni Commander and his senior officers after multi religious observances, placed bouquets at the foot of the War Hero memorial and paid their tribute to the memory of the fallen.
On November (23), SFHQ-W troops presented a Guard of Honour to the Wanni Commander as a formality before he planted several tree saplings in the premises to coincide with the anniversary.
An all rank lunch, followed by a stage drama, presented by Namel-Malani Arts Circle, culminated the anniversary ceremonies of the SFHQ-W.
