Drought-affected people in Veheratenna received 265 packets of rice as relief, thanks to the sponsorship, provided by Mr Yoga Perera, President, SLADAR and his family on Friday (29).
The distribution took place in the presence of Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division after the coordination was done by 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR).
Meanwhile, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in order to take stock of resettlement and different development roles continuing in Nandimithragama, Namalgama, Bogaswewa, Veheratenna and Selalihinigama lying between Vavuniya and Welioya areas, went on distributing crop seeds among the villagers of those places.
Mr Dayananda Herath, ‘Hadabima’ Chairman supplied those seeds to the people at the request of the SFHQ-W. Senior officers and other ranks, together with civilians assisted the project.
