Visiting Australian Delegation Visits Kilinochchi


Reconstruction and development work, being pursued by Army troops in Kilinochchi and its suburbs, came in for praise of a visiting Australian delegation when they paid a visit to the Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Tuesday (29).

The delegation comprised Mrs Julie Bishop, Deputy Opposition Leader and shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and a few of her parliamentary colleagues.

During their visit to the SFHQ-KLN, Major General L.B.R. Mark, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters – Mullaittivu on behalf of Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN presented them with a detailed account of different roles and tasks, currently being pursued by Kilinochchi troops for the benefit of civilians in the province.

The delegation responded saying that they were highly impressed with the services, being rendered by Army personnel in the area and pledged all assistance in the future from the government of Australia.

Exchange of mementos as symbols of goodwill followed after the cordial meeting.
