Vavuniya Students Educated on Pre-Medical Assistance &;amp; First-Aid


Coordination of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) enabled over 165 students in Vavuniya schools to receive knowledge on pre-medical care and first-aid during two three-day (Feb 8 -10) long workshops, held separately at Eerattaperiakulam Perakum Vidyalaya and Saiva Prakash Ladies’ School at Vavuniya.

Spending about Rs 50,000/= for the programme, St John’s Ambulance service in response to a request of the 211 Brigade Headquarters on the directions given by Major General Boniface Perera, Security Force Commander - Wanni conducted these awareness programmes in both schools, beginning at 9 a.m. on all three-days.

Inaugural ceremonies at both schools commenced in the presence of Ms Anton Somaraj, Directress, Vavuniya Zonal Education Office, Mr Sarath Nandakumara, Assistant Commissioner for St John’s Ambulance service, Mr N Srikandan, Course Director, District Commissioners of St John’s Ambulance service, Lieutenant Colonel T.M.J.B. Tennakoon, Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ-W, Senior Officers of St John’s Ambulance service, Principals, Teachers and a large gathering of spectators.
