Vavuniya Business Community Provides Troops with Relief Packs for Civilians

Troops of 7 Sri Lanka Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment coordinated and distributed 150 dry ration packs, each worth about Rs 3500/= among 150 low-income families in Bogaswewa-1 village in the Wanni on Sunday (20) following sponsorship, provided by members in the Vavuniya business community.

The Commander Security Forces-Wanni Major General Hemantha Bandara with the support of the General Officer Commanding 56 Division Major General Nandana Dunuwila and coordination of the Commander, 563 Brigade Brigadier Panduka Perera and the Civil Affairs Officer of the 563 Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel M.A.C.P Marasinghe launched the project after selecting the most needy in the area.

The Commanding Officer, 7 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major M.A.J.M Perera with his troops launched the project. Moreover, 56 Division, 563 Brigade and 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops also offered their contribution to this project by giving essential rations to prepare ration packs.

The project coincides with the conceptual notion, suggested by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army that all troops should assist the general public in whatever the way possible during this critical epidemic period.

Civil Affairs Officer of the 563 Brigade, Commanding Officer and the Second In Command of the 7 SLSR, Commanding Officer of the 21 SLSR, along with the troops also participated in this community treat.
