A high level delegation of the US and Sri Lanka based diplomats with a view to receiving an updated account of the Army's continuing contribution towards speedy development and the process of reconciliation met Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi at his Office on Saturday (08).
The Delegation, comprised of US based senior diplomats from Japan, Nigeria, Romania and Colombo-based high level diplomats from Italy, South Africa and Brazil was headed by Dr Palitha Kohona, Sri Lanka’s UN Ambassador.
Major General Udaya Perera, during the interaction with the visiting delegation presented a comprehensive account on Kilinochchi’s transformation from one of the most feared terrorist strongholds to be now, a peaceful area with all development activities in full swing under the government's ‘North Spring’ (Uthuru Wasanthaya) project.
