4 Gemunu Watch troops of the 231 Brigade under the 23 Division of the Security Force HQ-East with patronage, extended by the Sri Siddhartha Foundation of Ven Thalagala Sri Sumanarathana Thero and the 'Meng Leg Foundation Limited' in Singapore organized a free distribution of dry ration packets among 70 families, resident in the general area of Unnachichiya after inviting them to the Unnachchiya Kanuwela Central College on 06 June 2022.
The project was conducted on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 23 Division, Brigadier Shiwanth Kulathunga in an attempt to provide relief to poverty-stricken people in the area who have now been badly-affected due to economic constraints.
The GOC 23 Division, together with the 231 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer of 4 GW, Officers and Other Ranks supported the project in close consultation with respective Grama Seva officials.
