Action and Care Trust, a non-governmental organization, working for benefit of war-affected children established two more separate Happiness Centres, exclusively designed for students at Wattappalai Maha Vidyalaya and Wemmalai Maha Vidyalaya in the Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) area.
The primary objective of those centres is to help children overcome past unpleasant traumas of war and memories of destructive fighting memories before their eyes during offensives and fighting against Tiger terrorists, a few years ago.
Action and Care Trust, which had already set up so many such centres elsewhere with the support of the Security Forces in respective areas, expects children in both schools in Mullaitivu area, would engage themselves in different recreational activities off school hours after establishment of those ‘Happiness Centres’ in close proximity to their schools.
Major General L. B. R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, together with Ms Michelle Thurairaja of the same organization took part in the recent opening ceremonies of both ‘Happiness Centres’, equipped with musical instruments, TVs, DVDs, toys, games, etc.
Several more senior officers, principals, teachers and children along with some parents attended the opening ceremonies.
