Ahead of the planned re-opening of schools in the peninsula after COVID - 19 threat, 52 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on the directions of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division on Friday (26) carried out disinfection and sterilization of schools in order to mitigate risks of contamination.
The project covered schools in Idaikadu, Achchuveli, Thondamanaru, Uduppiddy, Imayanan, Meesalai, Allarai, Vidaththatpalai, Madduvil, Karampakurichchi, Varani, Kodikamam, Idaikurichchi and Paththameni areas with the objective of facilitating students into a healthy and hygienic environment, free from COVID-19 virus and other infectious germs.
52 Division troops on the guidelines of their Commanding Officers completed the project within a day.
Meanwhile, SFHQ-J at the request of university authorities conducted disinfection of Ananda Coomaraswamy Girls’ Hostel - Thirunelveli, Balasingham Boys' Hostel - Thirunelveli, Kokuvil new Girls' Hostel 1 & 2 - Kokuvil and Kokuvil new Hostel 1 & 2 - Kokuvil buildings and surrounding areas by troops of the 51 Division Headquarters.
