Troops Salute Their Retired Jaffna Comrade

515 Brigade troops on the instructions of the 51 Division and the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) conducted a military funeral for retired Corporal K. Kumaraswamy of the 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who passed away at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on Monday (25).

The military funeral took place at Keeramalai Cemetery in Kopay amid a gathering of mourners, villagers and Army personnel who offered military honours after accepting the remains.

Late Corporal retired from the Sri Lanka Army after completing 22 years of service and was living in the Jaffna peninsula after retirement.

The Non-Commissioned Officer had joined the Sri Lanka Army on 13 February 1957 and was posted to the 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. He had been awarded the Republic of Sri Lanka Armed Services Medal, Sri Lanka Army 25th Anniversary Medal, Ceylon Armed Services Long Service Medal and President's Inauguration Medal for his invaluable service to the motherland.
