Troops Rush to Give Emergency Support to Storm-affected Villagers

A quick relief operation, launched by 241 Brigade troops of the 24 Division under the Security Force HQ-East is currently engaged in repairing partially-damaged 21 houses and clearing roads that were affected after a storm swept across Keselwaththa village in Damana DS Division on Saturday (11 September).

A group of more than 22 troops, including two Officers under the guidance of Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, General Officer Commanding 24 Division, together with the Commander, 241 Brigade, Colonel Chandra Abeykoon who closely supervised the emergency project.

The Commanding Officer of 11 Sri Lanka National Guard with his troops volunteered to repair those damaged houses and cleared the blocked road network of the village.

Divisional Secretary for Damana, Grama Niladari Dewalahinda GN Division, Damana Disaster Management Centre unit and the Policemen of Iginiyagala Police station also supported the relief operation, led by Army troops.
