Troops Provide Refreshments &;amp; Medical Assistance to Mannar 'Easter Walk'

Mannar’s annual ‘Pada Yathra’ (walk) of Catholic devotees, held every year in connection, ahead of the forthcoming Easter Season, took place on Wednesday (14) with the participation of more than 1500 civilians.

The walk commenced at Mannar St Sebastian Church at about 5.00 a.m. covered an area of 102 km in total and reached Vavuniya at the end.

Troops of the 542 and 543 Brigade Headquarters area under the 54 Division serving the areas, like Mathottam, Murunkan, Kathkadanthakulam and Madhu road where the walk took place, provided refreshments, medical assistance and first aid points on the way and assisted the participants in numerous ways.

Catholic priests and all the organizers praised the Army for its assistance during the whole of the walk. 54 Division General Officer Commanding, Brigadier M.A.M Dias personally supervised the arrangements.
