Troops in Kilinochchi Educated on Sexually-Transmitted Diseases

Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) received the patronage of John Keels Charity Foundation to organize an educative programme on ‘HIV and AIDS’ for the benefit of KLN troops serving separate Divisions and Battalions of the SFHQ-KLN during March 16-17.

In response to a request made by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN), a team of representatives of the sponsoring Foundation held separate lecture sessions to keep soldiers updated on HIV and AIDS and its nature of transmission.

Awareness programmes of the 65 Division at Mullankavil Battalion Training School and the 66 Division at Arsapurakulam Training School were held separately at Mullankavil and at Arsapurakulam Training School with the participation of 500 troops and 450 troops respectively.

The following day (17) morning hours, ‘HIV and AIDS’ awareness programme was conducted for troops of the SFHQ-KLN at the SFHQ’s Nelumpiyasa auditorium with the participation of more than 500 troops. The same evening hours saw more than 650 troops of the 57 Division attending the programme.

At the end of the sessions Brigadier Jagath Rathnayaka, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-KLN offered mementos to the representatives of John Keels Charity Foundation.
