In response to the dearth of blood, projected by the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital’s provincial Blood Bank in Mannar, troops serving the 54 Division readily obliged to the need and launched a blood donation campaign at 54 Division Headquarters, Mannar on Full Moon Poya Day (Nov 27).
Over 175 officers and soldiers volunteered to donate blood at that occasion in front of a medical team, sent to Mannar by the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for the purpose.
Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, senior officers and a large gathering of soldiers attended the occasion.
