Army personnel of several battalions under 224 and 231 Brigades of the 22 and the 23 Divisions, deployed under the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-East) carried out more community projects to uplift the living standards of the people living in the Eastern region.
Troops of 8 the Gemunu Watch (GW) laid the foundation stone for construction of a new school building at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 million, provided by AIA Insurance Lanka PLC at Ramakrishna College, Batticaloa on Tuesday (27).
General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Mr. Rukmal Senanayake, Senior Human Resources Manager, AIA Insurance Lanka PLC and Mr. K Sathyanandan, Director, Zonal Educational Office graced the occasion as chief guests, together with Mr. Gnanapirigasam, Principal, Ramakrishna College, Mr. N Dayaseelan, Divisional Education Officer, Mr. Sirinesan, Deputy Director Education and Commanding Officer, officers and other ranks of 8 GW.
Meanwhile, troops of the 5 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) organized a ‘Shramadhana’ campaign to clear the surroundings near Patalipuram Kovil in Thopur area on Monday (26).
On the same day, troops of the 12 Gajaba Regiment (GR) organized a Dengue prevention campaign to clean the Periyaupadi main roads sideways in Batticaloa area.
