NORTH & EAST: ARMY TROOPS conducted search and clear operations in the general areas of ALANKULAM, IRANAMADU, VISUAMADU, AKKARAYANKULAM and PUTHUKKUDDIYIRUPPU on Tuesday (3) and recovered one T-56 weapon, one T-56 magazine, eight rounds of T-56 ammunition, one Light Machine Gun (LMG), one LMG drum, fifteen hand grenades, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), twenty-six anti personnel mines, one 81 mm mortar bomb, one 40 mm GL cartridge, ninety-nine locally made 81 mm mortar bombs and one shot gun.
In the meantime, troops in the east conducted search operations in the general area of KUDUMBILAI, BATTICALOA and recovered five hand grenades the same day (03).
Meanwhile, troops in NARAKKULAM, MANNAR conducted a search and clear operation on Monday (2) and recovered two hundred and eighty-nine anti personnel mines and on Tuesday (3) another one hundred and sixty anti personnel mines.
